Proud Moment: Bhavik Patel Attends RICS Welcome to the Profession Ceremony

There are moments in business that remind you why you do what you do.

Watching someone on your team reach a professional milestone is one of them.

We are delighted to share that our very own Bhavik Patel recently attended the RICS Welcome to the Profession Ceremony at the beautiful RICS headquarters in Westminster — and it is a moment we are incredibly proud of.

Contrary to what the name suggests, a perfectly level overhead structure is a recipe for disaster. According to modern construction standards, every successful residential design is actually a “low-slope” roof. This slight, nearly invisible pitch is carefully engineered to keep rainwater moving smoothly toward the edges. As soon as that delicate gravity-based drainage system fails, a leaking flat roof becomes a stressful reality rather than just a distant possibility.

Think of the space above your head not as a traditional slanted structure, but rather as a massive, shallow outdoor bathtub. This basin relies entirely on a continuous waterproof liner and clear drains to keep your living room dry. If a single inch of that “bathtub” seal pulls apart or standing water accumulates, gravity takes over, and suddenly your roof is leaking.

Before you risk climbing a ladder in a panic, we need to secure your home from the inside out. Managing active drips safely requires a simple emergency triage. After neutralising the immediate indoor danger, addressing the underlying causes ensures a permanent structural solution.

What the RICS Welcome to the Profession Ceremony means.

At Home Surveying, we have always believed that the strength of what we do comes down to the people doing it.

We are a survey-only firm. That means every single person on our team is entirely focused on one thing — delivering the most thorough, honest and independent property advice possible. No distractions. No competing priorities.

When a member of our team achieves a qualification like this, it reinforces everything we stand for. It is a commitment to the profession, to the clients we serve and to the standard of work we hold ourselves to every single day.

RICS regulation is not just a badge. It is a promise to clients that the advice they receive meets the highest professional standards in the industry. And having team members who have gone through the formal process of being welcomed into that community matters deeply to us.

The future of the profession.

The surveying industry is changing. Homebuyers are more informed than ever, the property market is more complex and the expectation of what a great survey looks like continues to rise.

The next generation of surveyors, the Bhaviks of our industry are the ones who will define what that standard looks like going forward. And from everything we see in our team every day, the future is in very good hands.

Congratulations, Bhavik. This is just the beginning.
